Ron Jenkins was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on August 18, 1932 and was raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Between 1954 and1955, he attended the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, the dropped his art education to go to work temporarily for a savings and loan association. This was due the increasing family responsibilities. He was to work for the savings and loan association for ten years, but in the meantime began a correspondence course in art. The course ran from 1958 to 1962. Jenkins works very fast, and birds are his favorite subject - though he will tackle any subject. Comparatively speaking, he spent so little time on the 1964 painting of canvasbacks that won the 1965/66 Federal Duck Stamp Competition. In fact the work took him so little time that he felt mildly embossed and never wanted to submit it. Ron Jenkins has illustrated a number of stories for the Pennsylvania Angler and the Pennsylvania Game News. His work has also appeared in the Modern Game Breeding magazine and the National Geographic magazine. His 'Whistlers' or Barrows Goldenyes won the third annual Montana Bird Stamp Design contest in 1980. He produced the piece in two medium which was that of a hand colored stone lithograph edition and a reproduction edition. Many of Ron Jenkins’ work can be found in many art galleries all over the world, with several of the galleries selling ready to mount framed Ron Jenkins art. His works are admired both other artists and corporate and private collectors, and they can be found in many institutions.
