Tommy Ingberg (Born 1980) has been creating since he was a child. He has early memories of his fascination with cameras and of drawing in his sketch book. Somewhere along the line he chose photography. His first camera was a Praktica with two lenses but without autofocus. . Ingberg spent several hours experimenting and shooting as much film as he could afford. Since then he’s been constantly photographing. In high school he had very high grades and went on to study for a degree in computer science. He doesn’t think it was a decision coming from him, but rather from society and his surroundings. After he graduated as a computer engineer he settled into a safe non-challenging “normal” life. Several years flew by in a blur of endless repeating weekend parties and workdays. He kept on photographing as a hobby and by that time he had developed into a rather skilled photographer technically. By lack of confidence he did not do what he wanted to, but what he thought he was supposed to do. For a long time he quite enjoyed this life, but there was something missing. Slowly and without really noticing it, he lost direction and began spiraling downwards until in his late twenties finally hit some sort of bottom. It was at that point that he found what art was to him. As a sort of therapy, he started creating pictures. He stopped caring about what other people could think of his work and stopped playing it safe. He felt free to tell his own stories, and by crossing the line from photography into photo montages he had the tools to actually tell those stories. Today, framed Tommy Ingberg art are selling in large numbers because they are preferred by many collectors.
