Larry Hunter was born and brought up in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a self-taught freelance artist, designer, illustrator and muralist. Hunter attended the Vancouver School of Art. The first 20 years of his career were spent perfecting traditional illustration skills in media such as watercolor and airbrush. He has been served well in the computer age by the skills and disciplines learned over those 20 years. While Hunter still works with traditional media, he also uses computer graphics to enhance his artwork. He uses the Adobe Suite programs extensively for vector-based and faster illustration works. He e-mails and transfers art files to his clients around the globe. Some of his commercial clients include Molson's Canada, Australian Outback, Harley Davidson, Habitat for Humanity, Ironman Canada, Van Morrison, Trans Canada Trail, Dire Straits, Bryan Adams, and Pattison Group. Hunter opened his first studio in 1980. In 1995 computer technology advancements allowed him to move away from the Greater Vancouver area and he relocated with his wife and children to the South Okanagan Valley near the town of Penticton. His passion for design and Architecture led him to architectural illustration, one of his favorite pursuits. Here, as with his mural work, he uses a slightly loose, impressionist style that evokes an emotional impact while maintaining a strong sense of realism through color, light and shadow. In his next life Hunter thinks he’ll try being an architect. In fact architectural renderings are one of his passions. Today, quite a number of framed Larry Hunter art can be found in many collections in Britain and around the globe.
