Sir Edward Hulton (Born 1906) was an illegitimate son of a racehorse owner and publisher. He also became a publisher and a writer. His mother was a music hall artist who was known by the stage name Millie Lindon. Hulton became an established artist whose works were published by several mainstream companies. Based on the subject he was covering at any given time, he used different colors to make his art look real. And because of his use of vivid and sometimes calm colors, his art can be used in any room with amazing results. Hulton studied at Harrow School, and in 1925 he proceeded to Brasenose College, Oxford. However, in the December of 1926 he left the college without a degree. That not withstanding, his talent and skills enabled him to create and nurture great working relationships with different companies and individuals. During the 2nd World War, Hulton was a member of a group of British Politicians called the 1941 Committee. The group was formed by politicians, writers and some influential individuals who never belonged to any particular political parties. They came together to press for more efficient production to enhance the war effort. Hulton was involved in many businesses involving publication. Some of these businesses were Picture Post and Hulton Press. However, in 1957, he discontinued the Picture Post and two years later, he sold the Hulton Press to Odhams. In 1996 Getty Images bought the Hulton Picture Collection. Getty Images has retained Hulton’s Archive as a featured resource within its large holdings. Due to the quality of Hulton’s work, framed Sir Edward Hulton and Getty Images art are in great demand all over the world.
