Amanda Houston Art

Amanda Houston is a Fine Artist from Cornelius, O.R. She believes that painting is just as much about the journey as it is the finished piece. She loves creating new things so painting is a pure joy to her. Amanda says that each piece brings its own set of challenges and frustrations to work through, pushing her to learn and grow. Her voice is constantly evolving and the more she paints, the more she realizes how much there is still to learn. She’s striving for her 10,000 hours, constantly pushing herself to loosen up; she simply tries new things and surrenders to the process. Her mother was also an artist, though she only painted as a hobby. As a child living in Saudi Arabia and Africa, Amanda remembers watching her mother paint oil landscapes. Both her parents were educators and they encouraged her to follow her passion. She was educated in New England and holds a B.S. in Apparel Design & Merchandising from University of Vermont and a graduate degree in Textile Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. As a retired competitive triathlete, Amanda still loves to practice yoga, swim cycle, and run, but also enjoys entertaining, traveling and cooking. She is a signature member of the NW Pastel Society, and is represented by Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA, Cole Gallery in Edmonds, WA, Valley Art Gallery in Forest Grove, OR, Columbia Arts Gallery in Hood River, OR, Parker Furniture in Portland, OR, and Clearwater Gallery in Sisters, OR.
