Robert Holman (Born 1958) grew up in Arizona. He began working in art at a very young age. In fact, his first private show was held at the local private library when he was only 12 years old. In high school, he developed a love of watercolors and continued to pursue his education through art scholarships to colleges in both Utah and Arizona. During a break while he was undertaking his undergraduate studies, he spent two years in Taiwan, where he acquired a fervent fondness of oriental art and tradition. He draws his inspiration as an artist from his experiences in Taiwan and the of eastern culture’s influence. Holman does not rely solely on specific periods or movements in art history to drive his own unique style. However, he appreciates the fluidity of present day watercolorists.

Holman’s work can best be described as a connected imagery yet an all-embracing balance of converse. His style captures life’s nuances and is diverse in both subtle and dramatic ways. It is an anecdote of light and dark; from realism to abstract; from opaque to translucent. It is his understanding of the delicacies in the eastern culture that allows him to have such a command of shading and translucence. Whether he works on a resonant color field or a graceful watercolor landscape abstract, his art evokes a feeling of tranquility and peace. The depth of his painting calls his viewers to moments of reflection, and to a continuous moment that’s meant for deeper meanings and inner thoughts. He loves to paint scenes of things that most artists and people pass by without notice. That’s what makes framed Robert Holman art to be very popular.
