Kelsey Hochstatter was born in East Amherst in New York where he was also raised. Her family used to travel a lot, and she quickly became captivated by the diversity of the natural world surrounding her. She loved art from a tender age and as a young girl she would draw and sketch on anything she could get her hands on using any material that was available. Kelsey never kept a diary, but left a trail of sketches adorning her path. An artist, an explorer and a daydreamer, she constantly challenged herself. She never felt satisfied and always felt that she could do better. She began taking on illustration work at a young age, and her creative and imaginative mind took her places that no one or this world could. Years later, Kelsey realized that painting could take her to those same places. She says that if she’s yearning for serenity, through painting she can find it. She goes on to say that when she’s inspired or moved in life, by people, by God, by Nature, it stays with her. She revisits those feelings when she’s painting. Kelsey went on to St. Lawrence University in upstate New York to pursue her interests in art. She majored in Fine Arts, as well as Psychology and Environmental Studies. She cherished her time spent in the studio, particularly printmaking and painting. Today, framed Kelsey Hochstatter art are in great demand all over the world. In addition to her immersion in academics and art, Kelsey was a Teacher's Assistant for two professors. She also played for the University's Women's Lacrosse Team, and worked as a rock climbing guide for the University's Outdoor Program. She now resides in Southern California and is still inspired and paints as often as ever. Whether through color, texture, pattern, or form, these natural details continue to take shape in her paintings today.
