Julie Hawkins is a Canadian painter who uses swirls and dabs of paint to create dazzling array of brightly-colored images. She knew she wanted to become a painter when she was still very young. Julie has spent several years developing and practicing her technique. She is noted for his use of emotion evoking, vibrant colors. He studied art in high school and at Eastern Illinois University. After graduation, from Humber College in Toronto, and practicing design for over 5 years but never gave up the dream of becoming a painter, she left the profession and plunged into painting full time. The use of color is very personal for her, and she says painting with lots of color brings her satisfaction and joy. She believes that joy is what comes across to the viewer. She is fascinated by making something beautiful out of nothing. Producing a colorful, inspiring and wonderful piece of art on what was just a blank canvas in the beginning is what makes her happy. Her passion also lies with pattern and texture. She believes each of these elements has an infinite range of values to be explored. So every painting she does is an experiment in the shades, tints, and combinations of color, along with thick/thin, rough, and smooth textures, and the shapes and patterns that create the aesthetic she is always looking for. Her work has been featured in exhibitions across Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles and New York City. Framed Julie Hawkins art can be found in many private and corporate collections internationally.
