Julie-Anne Gilburt studied illustration at the university where she spent 6 years. After graduation she began her career teaching Art and Design in South East England, and eventually chose to devote all of her time to a professional career in art after experiencing great success with her one-person exhibitions in both Europe and London. Currently, the artist is based in a gallery/studio space overlooking the sea in Brighton, United Kingdom. In November 2004, Julie-Anne began a series of exhibitions starting with an exhibit with the Oisín Gallery. Her first formal showing was at the gallery's Annual Christmas Show. The show signified her appeal to both private and corporate collectors. Her new works were on exhibit in the gallery throughout 2005. Many of her canvases vary between abstraction and representation, and are influenced by both her love of classical music and her environment. Her forms that are within the most abstract art include angular shapes based on mathematical principles. Her others forms have rotating spiral forms that suggest musical scores and waves. Julie-Anne’s technique involves painting many layers of colors that are translucent. Quite a number of her latter works are frequently presented in triptych or diptych format. Her art are mainly availed to clients as ready to hang framed Julie-Anne Gilburt art. Though there are also other finishing options available. Her more figurative works involve a similar technical approach to her seascapes and landscapes by consisting of stark horizons and many layers of paint. The figures are painted in sharp contrast to the background, making them to be very visible and clear, hence more realistic.
