Bart Forbes (Born in 1939) was born in Altus, OK is an American illustrator and painter. Forbes has worked for many of the leading magazines, amongst them Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated, McCalls, and TIME, as well as a broad selection of private and corporate clients. In 1986, he was the recipient of the Sport Artist of the Year Award. This award is given by the American Sport Art Museum and Archives annually. His wide variety of works include paintings of the Dallas Cowboys for Jerry Jones private jet, Time Magazine's Man of the Year article on Jimmy Carter, and postage stamps for the United States Postal Service, and many others. A collection of his most famous sports paintings, The Sports Art of Bart Forbes, was published in 1998by Beckett. A gifted painter and illustrator, Forbes has gained great respect over the last more than 45 years that he has been and artist. He is well known for his realistic, yet loose painterly style of work which were regularly reproduced in the 1970s – 1980s to accompany stories for Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, McCalls and other popular women's magazines. During that period a number of limited edition prints were published including the Endangered Species series, the Male and Female Golfers, images of Native Americans, and many others. He produced art mainly as framed Bart Forbes art though there are also many other finishing options. In 1987 the Korean Olympic Committee commissioned him to be their official artist for the following year’s Seoul Olympics.
