Nicole Etienne Art

Nicole Etienne (Born 1974) is an American painter who was born in Santa Cruz, California, but is currently based in the United Kingdom. She was born to a mother painter who helped her nurture her talent and provided her with all the tools she needed. As she grew up, Nicole traveled to diverse locations where she learnt new things, studied, and exhibited her artistic works before she finally settled in New York City. Her works are completely unique and are done in lush brushes. Most of her subjects are romantic in nature and she always depicts the woman as the romantic hero in her paintings. Nicole studied at University of California Santa Barbara before she transferred to University of California Santa Cruz, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997. She later studied in Italy's Lorenzo Medici School of art from where she earned her Masters of Fine Art. She has worked in different countries, including Ireland and Italy. Most of her landscape pieces are of Ireland. During her trips to Ireland, she mainly stays in a residency in county Kerry, preferring a famine stricken village. From that village she gets diverse impressions of standing stones, sounds of the sea, and the fairy rings, among others. Nicole chooses to create her paintings either in the studio or out in the open. She creates her images by first developing a realistic painting of her landscapes before scraping their pigment over the created picture several times until she attains her final desired image.
