Ekaterina Ermilkina (Born in 1975) was born in Saratov, Russia into the family of winemakers. He grew up in the city of Yalta in Crimea on the North coast of the Black Sea. She creates original abstract fine art paintings on canvas using a skillful combination of a palette knife with the art of applying and removing oil paint. Ekaterina’s inspiration comes from the expressionistic delightful skylines of big cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, or Manhattan that are full of colorful skyscrapers. When she was 17 years old she moved on to Saint-Petersburg, where she attended The Saint Petersburg State Art and Industry Academy and got her Master’s Degree of Art and Design. Since then, she has produced hundreds of artwork. She abstracts her urban scenic views and enriches them with vivid and textured layers. The artist’s mosaic cityscapes and emotional architectural patchwork radiate a life of positive energy and balance. Ekaterina has been a painter all her life and says she cannot remember a time in her life before she was a painter. In late 2005, she moved to the United States where works have been presented in various group and solo exhibitions. Framed Ekaterina Ermilkina art have been collected throughout the U.S. as well as Germany, Canada, Russia and France. Contemporary pointillism has been a revelation for her. She uses a palette knife to build a pattern by applying distinct dots of color, which is ultimately seen as a pattern when the dots are blended in the mind and eye of the viewer, from a distance.
