Joan elan Davis keeps herself motivated and interested in painting by constantly looking at artists that are better than her to push her technique and her quality. She goes to museums whenever possible and studies the past, present and future trends. Joan is a New York-born Artist who has stashed the experiences of her many travels around the world into a huge collection of impressions and images that eagerly find their way onto her always-fascinating canvases. For 6 years, she worked as a docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art until finally she had to stop to give herself more time to paint. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is still her favorite museum on the west coast. She loves the Whitney in New York most of all. Joan doesn’t seem to have to try very hard to keep motivated. She says it’s almost a challenge to stop thinking about it and doing it. She will see the smallest thing and get inspired – a thing that can be ignored by many people including artists. There was a profound interest in drawing and painting in her immediate family. She was born and raised in Huntington (NY) just outside of New York City. Her father is a professional writer and artist and because of this she was exposed to museum quality art at an early age. Her galleries include National Association of Women Artists Gallery, Joan Davis Art Studios, The Palm Desert Collection Gallery in Palm Desert, the A. Rudin Showroom in LA as well as Studio Chameleon in Newport Beach. Her works were recently showcased at Dickens House, the Marin Showcase Home and the Western Interiors Show. This increased the popularity of framed Joan elan Davis art.
