Alice Dalton Brown is an American artist who specializes in domestic paintings. She was born in Danville, Pennsylvania, in 1939 and raised in Ithaca, New York. In 1957, Alice Dalton Brown began her studies at L’Académie Julian in Paris, France, before joining L’Université de Grenoble the following year. She joined Cornell University where her father, Dr. Robert H. Dalton, worked as a teacher in Child Development and Family Life Department at the same University. After two years as an English major, she transferred to Oberlin College in Ohio where she studied from 1960 to 1962. It was in Oberlin College where she began living her artistic dream after receiving her BA in studio art. Alice Dalton Brown lived in and worked in New York from 1970 to 2005 before moving to Hudson Valley where she currently lives with her family. Even as an English major in Cornell University, Alice took painting and sculpting classes which were then offered in the Architecture College. She later moved to Oberlin College, but couldn’t get time to paint, therefore opting to switch to studio art. Her earlier works were inspired by landscape and Finger Lake region where she lived in. Alice began making paintings of barns and has since then produced incredible pieces of artwork that have been displayed in exhibitions all over the country and internationally. She mainly uses pastel on paper or oil on canvas. Several galleries sell laminated, canvas, and framed Alice Dalton Brown art that are ready for installation.
