Lisa Cueman grew up in the ranks of the British Pony Club. She’s a 16th generation Bermudian who spent her youth riding and competing. However, she left the sport in early adulthood to take up photography as her full time passion. It was her friend's suggestion that helped her to turn her lenses toward horses, and her two life-loves came together – photography and horses. Lisa is riveted by the raw beauty of equines. She emphasizes the lines, texture and form of the horse in a captivating way. Currently, she lives in Vermont with two black labs and her husband. Lisa can’t remember exactly when she started riding but just knows that she always could ride. She has spent most of her time around or with horses. She hopes to present her images, as if for the first time, and in a way that perhaps has not been considered. Lisa’s horse-filled years coupled with the uncommon freedom that she experienced in childhood serves to inform her work today. Her skills were honed while she was attending technical programs at The Maine Photographic Workshop as well as other workshops that were conducted elsewhere. While abstracting her subjects, Lisa is drawn in to be physically closer, in order to emphasize their forms, beauty, lines and textures that she finds so irresistible and seductive. Lisa’s art are availed in a variety of finishing options. The most popular with many collectors are the ready to hang framed Lisa Cueman art.
