Marietta Cohen Art

Some of Marietta Cohen’s earliest memories refer to painting and drawing. She was born and grew up in Bulgaria, in a communist set up where no opportunity for individual creative expression was possible. She still clearly remembers the thrills of eagerness and joy with which she expected her drawing lessons. At the age of 12 she had already decided to become an artist – though that was not the best choice those days. She later graduated from high school of fine arts, and then studied textile design for a year in Moscow, Russia and then proceeded to the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her family moved to Israel after the fall of Communism in Bulgaria. While in Israel, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in textile design. She has always liked her profession but her heart was in painting. She worked for years as textile designer in different parts of the world – Germany, France, Israel, and lately San Francisco and San Diego USA; after which she decided to return to her first love - painting. She has produced several pieces of art, mainly as framed Marietta Cohen art. When she first looks at the white canvas she always feels the same thrill in her guts - will there be obstacles, what adventure lies ahead, or will everything come out smoothly. However, the designer in her helps her to find the balance between the exquisite and the decorative. Her canvases contribute and complement the right finish of contemporary home decoration.
