Jim Christensen Art

Jim Christensen (Born in 1942) was born and raised in Culver City, California. He is an artist of fantasy and religious art and worked as an art instructor at Brigham Young University for over 20 years. He attended UCLA and after completing his education there he moved to Utah for his higher education at Brigham Young University. His inspirations are fables, myths, tales and fantasies of imagination. His art has been to numerous shows throughout the United States and he has been commissioned by media companies such as Omni and Time-Life Books to create artwork for their publications. In 2002, Christensen’s artwork featured on the cover of Leading Edge. This won him the Chesley Award for cover artwork. His work has also appeared in Japan's Outstanding American Illustrators and the American Illustration Annual. Christensen also won multiple Chesley Awards from the Association of Fantasy Artists and Science Fiction, and all the professional art honors offered by the World Science Fiction Convention. He has published more than 3 books, and many of his works have appeared in many more books. His first book was printed in 1994 to great acclaim. His second book titled “Voyage of the Basset” contains a story for a great deal of original work. Christensen paints in a variety of styles, from whimsical and humorous works of satire to the lush Saints and Angels series. His artwork appeals a broad range of collectors because he produces them in a variety of finishing options including framed Jim Christensen art. His art excites the imagination and invites the viewer to be a participant.
