Michael Buxton always likes his art to feel tactile and playful, so he’ll usually begin by hand-drawing before he finishes using a computer. This UK-based designer has an experience of more than a decade and has worked in the greetings card industry, producing some of the best-selling ranges for clients like Recycled Paper Greetings, Paperchase and Clintons. In his spare time he’s a massive film geek as well as having a passion for cooking, gaming and reading. He also plays various sports which stop him from becoming a human potato. Since he started working as a freelance artist, he's branched out into producing designs for books, homeware and t-shirts. Humor plays a pivotal role when he’s working on designs and if there’s any reason at all to draw bizarre beasts, he’ll take it. In the course of his work, he's had work selected for Junique, Threadless, Disney and Hot Topic, among many others. Five Mile Press gave him the opportunity to illustrate their children's book, and he hopes that this will open door for many others. So as not to get bored, he really enjoys trying his hand at different styles and techniques, but he’s always very happy when he works with characters and hand-drawn type. His use of typography and his colorful digital illustrations would be best suited for prints and greeting cards. As he’s quite experienced, he tends to work very quickly and has a very confident and friendly attitude when dealing with people. Framed Michael Buxton art are highly priced by many collectors.
