Christopher Burkett (Born 1951) now lives in Oregon but was born raised in the Pacific Northwest. He first became interested in photography in 1975 just for his spiritual expression because he was a member of a Christina brotherhood group. About 8 years after joining brotherhood, he left and married his wife, Ruth. Burkett believes that photography is an expression of what we see and experience and of the world we live in. he says that many contemporary photographs are warped with malignant things and filled with negativity. He feels strongly that there is no need to give strength and life to these negative things. The purpose of his photography is to provide a brief, glimpse into a brilliant and clear world of power and light. To the extent that his photographs help him to show that way, is the extent to which he considers that his images are successful. He produces high quality art which are in high demand, especially the framed Christopher Burkett art that are currently in many collections and are highly priced. Initially, he was using his photographs as a means to express the beauty, light and grace he saw present in the world of nature, but as time went by, he slowly but surely perfected his skill so he could use photography as a means through which he could express his inspiration and innermost feelings. Since 1980, Burkett has evolved into one of the best color printers in the medium’s history. He creates Cibachrome color prints from his brilliant transparencies.
