Brent Barnes does underwater photography. He has been doing this for more than 10 years. Even as a young child, Barnes knew that art would be an integral part of his life. Those around him would affectionately encourage him to express his creativity. He’s been on an artistic journey for a long time and he feels that it’s only the photographic process that keeps him engaged with both the outer and inner realms and provides him with a mechanism for more than self-expression. He’s is an emergency medicine physician in working and living in Oklahoma. After diving for five years, decided to take up photography starting of with a compact and later he upgraded to a DSLR system. Framed Brent Barnes art can be used to decorate any space and that explains why they have found their way into many galleries, homes, stores, and institutions. After entering photography competitions in the recent past, he placed his art in the photo contest dabbed the Beneath the Sea Photo Contest of 2015. That same year saw him become a semi-finalist of the World ShootOut in the shark category. These events have greatly inspired him to continue producing high quality images. Drawing on his experiences as a physician, he shoots what he loves most. And he prints pieces of art that even he himself can use to decorate his home. Barnes is concerned that the ocean is rapidly declining and he hopes to use his photography to educate people on the need to preserve the planet’s oceans.
