Artist Carolyn Blish (Born in 1928) began paintings in the early 1950s. Her mother recognized early on that she had artistic gifts and supported her in her work. Carolyn also worked as a TV newscaster, model, and actress. Carolyn is a member of the Allied Artists of America, the American Watercolor Society, and Allied Artists of America. She learnt the underlying principles of composition and design in painting for two weeks under the tutelage of watercolorist Edgar A. Whitney. She has enjoyed shows and sold-out exhibitions, and has won awards from such prestigious organizations as The National Arts Club, The Hudson Valley Art Association, and The American Watercolor Society. She first began exhibiting her art nationally in 1965. It is Carolyn’s great joy to share with other people the subjects she loves. This is why it delights her to avail her prints to as many collectors as possible. It is therefore not a surprise that framed Carolyn Blish art is found in many collections and galleries. This gives her a sense of connection and sharing with others whom she will never have the opportunity of meeting or knowing. “The important thing is not the painting itself, but the love with which it is painted,” she says. “Love is the supreme ingredient; it is love that makes the painting art. It is technique that enables an artist to paint.” Her faith is the most important substance of her life, and painting is the closest thing to prayer that she knows. It reminds her of how all beauty points to God. She believes every work of fine art bears witness to God - the Creator of all things beautiful.
