John Woodhouse Audubon (Born 1812) was born in Henderson, Kentucky. He’s an artist who spent the better part of his life in New York. He loved the side of art that deals with nature and always strived to get the best out of his panting process. He was the second son of the naturalist/artist John James Audubon. He showed an artistic promise at an early age and his father encouraged him to join him (his father) in his scientific interests. He continually searched for perfection and enjoyed the process of searching for it; even though he may never achieve it he found it exciting to try. Audubon believed that art was not his profession but his passion. He loved art and could not imagine doing something different. John became an active traveler, a draftsman, as well as a collector of specimens. One day at the age of 33 he accompanied his father on an expedition to Labrador. This expedition became the launching pad for his career and influenced his art for the rest of his life. Audubon came up with very beautiful drawings of birds that made his father to give that department of his duty up to him altogether. While at it, he didn’t feel like he’s working but rather as if he was in an exciting adventure. Audubon lived in New York, a wonderful part of the United States which fed his inspiration and gave him the motivation to get up at odd hours in the mornings. Framed John Woodhouse Audubon art hang on the walls of many buildings in the U.S. and abroad.
