Alford is known for an expressive painting style that fuses a sharp, modern sensibility with classical technique, he exhibits extensively in the UK, the US and continental Europe. He currently lives and works in London. Alford’s landscapes and powerful cityscapes of contemporary urban centers, especially London, capture diverse geographies through the eyes of a passionate traveler. His varied body of work reflects his interest in many types of painting. His paintings of figures, nude and clothed, are very popular and are much sought after for their combination of sense of drama, acute observation, and fine draughtsmanship. A sensitive portraitist, he’s frequently commissioned to paint groups and even individuals. His earliest art training came from his father who taught him to draw in perspective while he was still very young. He travelled extensively in the Middle East and South America, keeping detailed sketchbooks to record his experiences. Alford later studied art at the Chelsea School of Art and the Slade School.
