Living and working in Carpinteria, California, Jesse Alexander (Born 1929) is a photographer whose art has been exhibited in an international array of museums and galleries. His work is held notably by the Akron Museum, the Birmingham Museum of Art, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. He spent several years in Europe where he was covering the famous long distance sports car races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Formula One, and the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio. Alexander has been involved in photography since 1950s; especially motorsports photography. His corporate collections include Audi North America, Porsche North America, Ralph Lauren Polo, New York, Volkswagen of American, Ford Motor Company, and Chrysler Corporation. In 1955, he went to photograph the Grand Prix in Monaco for the first time. His photographs of the cars, races, spectators and drivers capture the glamour and excitement of these hugely popular events. The narrow roads of the course provide challenging environment in which to photograph but the photographer always seeks out the most advantageous viewpoints from which to shoot. The most advanced cars of the day Mercedes, Maseratis, Porsches and Ferraris rush into his shots, through auspicious surroundings and jubilant crowds. Alexander’s work are found in numerous public and private collections and has been exhibited in many museums in the US, including the Akron Museum, the Birmingham Museum of Art, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
