Alaagy was born in Busa, a village in the upper west region of northern Ghana. He is known for creating large-scale paintings with vibrant colors reflecting African culture. His paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions, in museums and galleries in the United States and Africa, including Pro Arts Gallery in Oakland, California; the De Young Museum in San Francisco; the National Museum and Monument Board of Ghana in Accra; and the Sergeant Johnson Gallery in San Francisco. As a child, Alaagy experienced abuse many and hardships, He was therefore raised by his grandmother. Because of these experiences he is able to connect with the children in DrawBridge in natural and meaningful ways. Alaagy has collaborated with the children in DrawBridge during the past six years he to create murals, one in New York City and six at San Francisco Bay Area shelters. He did this in partnership with Good Shepherd Services. Alaagy has received many public and corporate commissions including those sponsored by the Good Shepherd Services Center in New York City; the Marin Arts Council in San Rafael, California; Days Inn in San Rafael, California; and Hamilton Family Centers in San Francisco. Alaagy received a Certificate in Arts and Design from the Ghanatta College of Art and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ankle College of Art in Accra, Ghana. Framed Alaagy art are in great demand because they appeal to many viewers regardless of their age group. His paintings have been featured in group and solo exhibitions, in museums and galleries in Africa and the United States.
