Simon Addyman (Born 1957) is a British artist who was born in Colchester, England. His artistic career can be said to have been well cut out for him at a very young age, having been born to artistic parents. His parents encouraged him into his painting efforts and provided him with the necessary support to enable him grow. Addyman proceeded to study art at the Colchester School of Art. He earned a Fine Art degree from the City & Guilds of London Art School in 1982. The period after completing his studies until 1990, he focused on creating art as a freelance artist, honing in on illustration and graphic art. During this period, he also started creating fine art and murals for different clients in London and exhibiting his works in diverse galleries across London. In 1989, National Portrait Gallery, London, accepted his "Portrait of Jan" and even used it in its publicity material. In 1991, Addyman relocated to the U.S. and settled in California, where he creates art, working en plein air. He owns a private studio in Auburn, California. Over the years, his works have been widely sold and can be found in many American and European collections. A number of these galleries provide properly finished Simon Addyman framed art for customers. They are also availed in several other finishing options. Addyman is a versatile artist, whose artistic style is continuously fused into his images, making them quite famous with collectors. He receives his inspiration from diverse sources, including his childhood neighborhoods and the works of Old Masters, putting particular interest in mood and atmosphere created by the pieces. Addyman mainly creates his works in acrylic and oil, depending on the subject matter. He often begins his images from simple sketches before transforming the sketches into mature abstract paintings. Addyman has special interest in supporting community projects and has in the past donated his time and creativity towards supporting cancer research among other charitable causes.
