Framed Coat of Arms Art

Coat of arms were used in medieval times for the protection of knights and their identification. They were also called coat armory. The coat of arm is just the central part of the heraldic achievement, which has a shield, two supporters, a crest and a motto. Each design is unique for a certain person or a family, large company or a state, as its traditional symbol of heritage. The first usage of coat of arms was made by Romans, and their symbols depicted on large shields presented military units. A more widespread application of coat of arms was in 12th century and was used by knights and feudal lords. A century later, coat of arms was spread from battlefields to royal families and it became a representation of the cultural heritage of the family, and was passed from generation to generation during different time periods.
