Pub Posters
Pub, short for “public house”, is a place where people gather to drink and socialize. In history, the first pubs were related to Roman taverns and were later easily distinguished from cafes, bars and other modern gathering locations. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the people started making pubs from regular houses and gathered there to drink and exchange the information about daily events.
In many cities and town around the world, the pub is one of the most popular places in town as people stop in for a drink and talk with a friend after a day of work. Pub posters are known for often being humorous in nature and vintage in style. Unlike an upscale wine bar or restaurant, the pub is comfortable and casual in style, with other décor that often consists of a pool table, dart boards and vintage signs.
If you’re looking for new pub art, you likely feel like your pub needs an upgrade but want to keep the space familiar and comfortable for regular patrons. Choosing artwork that’s vintage in style but new to you is one way to achieve that. There are vintage ads for various types of alcohol and beer that make great pub posters. Using white mats when framing will add some brightness to the walls and bring attention to your new art. Frames can be black or brown for a more contemporary look or gold and silver if you want to continue with a traditional feel. When you’re finished, the pub talk around your new pub art is bound to heat up and keep the drinks flowing!
