Framed Polo Artwork
Polo is a game that was originally played with horses in large fields. It was an activity played by the very wealthy for exercise. It comprises of a horse and rider, a baton like one used in croquet, two goals, and a ball.
This rich man's sport has been put into many paintings for framed polo art.
One such photo that shows who played polo in its heyday is the framed polo photograph of “Polo Photo”, by Unknown. It appears to have been taken nearly a century ago, and is a static picture of five polo players posing on their horses. Their equipment is ready, the field is cut, and they are ready to play. Their horses are well groomed, and were probably taken care of by other people. This photograph is an excellent peek into the past.
A very dynamic framed polo painting is “Polo” by John Leone. It is exquisitely detailed, even having the afterimages in the colours to make it seem more realistic, and shows the horses moving. The players are competing from different teams, as shown by the different colours on their horse's legs. The background is tropical, possibly meaning that it took place in Florida.
Neil Halyard made the framed painting of polo in “Polo Players,” which is a unique one indeed. Rather than capture the detail, he attempts to capture the motion. The polo player is in a dynamic diagonal pose, while the horse's legs are in a complex motion. It is all rendered in blue and white, and has a bit of blur to add more of a feeling of speed. It has a modern feel to it.
