Dragonfly Wall Art and prints
A dragonfly is a slightly large insect with four wings, two large eyes, and one long, colorful body that reminds us of a dragon. They are predatory, eating other insects and can fly at fast speeds.
They are also very beautiful, having bright markings on their bodies, iridescent wings, and a very interesting body shape, which makes them the subject of many artists' paintings for framed dragonfly art pieces.
James Burghardt's framed pop art of a dragonfly “Popfly1” is an interesting use of a detailed dragonfly shape using simple colours. The painting is very animated, with two dragonflies at different angles flying, their different distances indicated by the use of white, and a black dragonfly is seen from an overhead view. The black dragonfly is made to look closer to the viewer because it uses a dark colour.
An Asian-style framed dragonfly drawing that captures the eye is “Dragonfly” by Nan Rae. It is an ink drawing of the aforementioned insect in black, green, and blue, resting on a plant. It is drawn very loosely, but no so loose that the style is naive. The looseness adds a dynamicness to the artwork. There is a sense of motion created because the insect is at a diagonal angle. It appears to be getting ready to fly away in the picture.
“Dragonfly on Silver” by Patricia Pinto is an interesting framed dragonfly painting because of its materials. It is apparently painted on a thin piece of silver, instead of on a normal canvas. This method of painting adds an iridescent quality to any artwork, making it shiny and very eye-catching.
