Framed Hockey Team Posters

Hockey is the national sport in Canada, so it comes as no surprise that the National Hockey League was founded in Montreal in 1917. Most of the framed NHL posters at FramedArt.com feature American teams for the simple reason that they represent the vast majority of active franchises. Nevertheless, some of the oldest clubs are Canadian ones and two of them are members of the Original Six, also the proud recipients of multiple Stanley cups.

Framed Hockey Teams Art

The teams compete in the regular season and the most successful of them advance to the playoffs, with the ultimate trophy being the Stanley Cup. It is the oldest professional sports trophy in the United States and Canada and also the most important one for hockey fans. Not surprisingly, framed NHL posters often feature the cup itself, which is awarded to the team that wins the best-of-seven finals. The last team to win the trophy is the Los Angeles Kings, who also prevailed three years before against the New Jersey Devils.

Only after the Boston Bruins joined the team in 1924, the league became binational and over the last decade the dominance of Canadian franchises was interrupted. For one year in 2004 the season was canceled after the players and league representatives couldn’t agree on salaries and new rules were introduced the very next season. Framed NHL posters are dedicated to the best players competing in this league, with Canadians representing the majority of the superstars followed by Europeans and Americans.
