James Wiens is an artist who grew up and settled in British Columbia. He is an avid outdoorsman whose paintings reflect his love of landscapes and nature. His love of art made him to join the Emily Carr College of Art & Design in Vancouver where he earned a diploma in painting and printmaking. Wiens has over 20 years experience in painting and printmaking and applies the work ethic he gained on his family farm in his professional career as an artist. He is dedicated to his wife, and children and to his extended family. Wiens paints primarily in oils. He uses the texture of canvas or wood as the base of his creations. Due to his dedication, hard work and versatility, he has achieved much success with his art. His favorite times are those spent with his family. Wiens says that for him, being an artist is who he is. He has always been an artist. There’s nothing else he wants to do. He captures his subject matter in a style he simply describes as “easy”. Wiens has visited many museums and galleries from where he has learnt a lot from his fellow artists. He has also attended many art exhibitions that have helped to improve his skills.
