Karen Tusinski (Born 1962) lives and works in the Cape Ann region of Massachusetts. Her palette is vibrant, earthy and balanced. She graduated from Montserrat College of Art with her B.F.A. in Painting in 1998. The artist subscribes to the natural contrast found in our world. Her first passion in her work is color relationships. She paints images that remind the viewer of the comforts of home with flat space as her agent. Textile design, vases, bowls, flowers and bottles, serve as shapes to inspire/inform color dynamics in her art. While in the process of painting, she usually challenges herself by playing with the space around and between her subjects. She believes that composition is like a playground where relationships between form, color, and space develop. Karen has widely exhibited her art in various locations including Gleason Fine Art Gallery, Studio E Gallery, CODA Gallery, Larkin Gallery, Chameleon, Newburyport, Dragon Fly Fine Arts Gallery, The Marshall Gallery, Polonaise Gallery, Eisenhauer Gallery, Powers Gallery, among others. Karen uses her imagination to create wild and whimsical arrangements of poppies. Often, she uses geometric patterns to act as banners at the base of her paintings (and occasionally up the sides) to further anchor her subjects in space. She often calls upon one of her favorite muses in her work, the fleeting, red bloom of the Poppy flower. Her paintings easily tap into the effervescent quality and joy of hope. Today, framed Karen Tusinski art is a common sight in many galleries and collections. Her art has appeared in numerous magazines including Maine Home & Design, Art New England, Coastal Home, New England Home Magazine, and many others.
