Framed Turnley Prints

Peter Turnley was born in the United States. He has continually photographed the life of Paris where he has lived more than half of his life – Paris is his adopted home. His sensual, humorous, and tender view of Paris, offers distinctive peculiarity to the barren realism portrayed in his photo-journalism. He has photographed extensively in Paris for the past more than 35 years. He worked in Paris in the early 1980’s as the assistant to Robert Doisneau, the famous French photographer. Harvard awarded him a Nieman Fellowship from for the 2000-2001academic year. He teaches photography workshops the photo-essay and on street photography in Lisbon, Cuba, Paris, Mumbai, New York, Sicily and Venice. He currently lives in both Paris and New York, and has published 6 books of his work: Beijing Spring, French Kiss – A Love Letter to Paris, In Times of War and Peace, Moments of Revolution, McClellan Street and Parisians. His photographs are published frequently in the world’s most prestigious publications and have been featured on the cover of Newsweek 43 times. His photographs draw attention of the viewer to the plight of those suffering great injustice or hardships.
