Nan Rae’s talent as an artist was discovered by her mother who was quick to pronounce her an artist. Both her mother and herself knew that she would become a professional artist. She’s not quite sure if she was talented but she knows for certain that she’s prolific as painter after painting were done and tossed aside as she moves on to the next. One of her teachers retrieved her painting out of the trash and that painting received a National Scholastic Award. She couldn’t believe it and after that there was no turning back as she was labeled a great artist by everyone. Nan supposes that one might think she was an immediate success being an artist, but it was just the opposite as she arrogantly thought she couldn’t do anything. She was utterly clueless and flogged about for almost a year wondering why she was continuing to torture herself. Then one day a moment came when she thought “Why not just paint?” And so and relaxed and the rest really is history. She ventured out into the art world with her work testing the markets reaction to this new medium. She was astonished at the amount of work sold. Her desire has been to find balance between the elements of art to ensure that her compositions are in complete agreement with what her clients wanted. Her brush painting combines an impressionist approach to color with the grace of the Literati style. This style makes the framed Nan Rae art to be easily recognizable. Nan seeks to go beyond the mere illustration of a subject to capture its life force.
