Jaggu Prasad (Born 1963) was born at Rajastan and has been working on art since the age of 6. Rajastan where he was born and raised was regarded as one of the greatest artistic centers in India. It has always been a center for the arts for centuries, and it has been home for the brightest artisans who produce the best miniatures in carvings and paintings. Each of Prasad’s miniature paintings is a lovely representation of his ever growing talent and love. The artist has faithfully devoted himself to recording the wonders of nature. That he does so with such passion and commitment, without exaggerating his own personalities, is something for Western viewers to wonder and to ponder. Since he became a freelance artist, Prasad has completed many corporate, private and public commissions in botanical illustrations and art from the 1980's to the 1990's in Australia, India, Germany, Singapore, the United States and France. His works of art were included in the 7th International Exhibition of Botanical Art and Illustration organized by Hunt Institute. Prasad works in a traditional style of almost-microscopic watercolor representational painting, which he learned from his elders and has been practicing since his childhood. Prasad appears not to be interested in or familiar with contemporary or modern art. His preferred media are watercolor, gouache, and oils. Prasad has participated in many group exhibitions organized by the Rajastan’s Academy Art Council. In these exhibitions, his art, more so the framed Jaggu Prasad art, have attracted many viewers who have also offered positive feedback.
