Framed Picasso Surrealism Paintings

In the early twentieth century artists were becoming more and more interested in the inner workings of the human mind. Not content with creating art for its aesthetic appeal, artists such as Max Ernst and Joan Miro used symbolic shapes and images to show their interpretation of the human psyche. Framed Picasso surrealism art took its inspiration from Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx – the former introduced us to new psychological ideologies; the latter used his philosophical and economical views to introduce a revolutionary concept to the world – Communism.

Surrealism broadly falls into two categories. The first, known as oneiric or dream-like surrealism, includes the work of artists such as Salvador Dali. The second, automatism, is the term used for Freud’s technique of ‘free association’. There are some blurred lines between the two. Some framed Picasso surrealism artwork falls into the style of surrealism.
Pablo Picasso was one of several artists whose work covered a wide range of styles. Examples of framed Picasso surrealism art pieces include Dream and Deux Femmes Courant sur la Plage. Picasso uses his love of bold colours with the dreamlike quality of surrealism to produce images, which confuse but also delight. Surrealism has been described as abstract, alternative – even uncomfortable – because it forces the viewer to face the differences and the merging worlds of dreams and reality.

Symbolism plays a huge part in surrealist art. Picasso uses the Minotaur as a symbol in one of his most famous pieces -Guernica. The Minotaur was seen as a symbol of the violence as well as the cultural altercations, which were sweeping Europe in the early twentieth century. Picasso refused to define the symbols within this piece of framed Picasso surrealism art. As with the other artist of this movement, he felt that it was the job of the viewer to interpret the piece.
