Nancy O'Toole was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, but she moved to Vancouver when she was still very young. In high school, she majored in art and also studied art at the Vancouver Art Gallery. She has three children and her eldest son is also an artist who is renowned for his paintings in Acrylic. Nancy went on to a nursing career but later returned to art and decided to study portraiture. She studied under great artists including Allen W. Edwards and Elizabeth Smiley among others. Florals and Landscapes have become her signature subjects and she is very prolific in Acrylics though she is also does well with other media. She has become a very popular instructor in Acrylics and teaches with the same enthusiasm that she applies to her own painting. In recent years, Nancy has traveled several times through Europe and the travels have inspired many of her paintings. She travels and instructs many demonstrations and workshops throughout Canada and B.C. and the US. She is well known for her dynamic use of color and she strives for luminosity and intensity in her impressionistic style paintings. Nancy’s paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout North America, Ireland, Europe, England, and many other countries throughout the world. She uses her paintings as a means of communicating what she feels about the environment to her clients. She is actively involved in the B.C. Art community as a full time artist. She is sought after and collected by corporate and private collectors at home and abroad and has had several successful Public and Solo Exhibitions throughout Washington, Alberta, British Columbia, and California.
