Danny O. is an instinctive recycler; he’s able to create collage art using a range of media, from colorful magazine paper and comic books to delicate and stylish Scotch tape drawings. He’s most notable for his 3-D ball art, though he works in a variety of mediums. Old lottery tickets and vintage record album covers serve as his modern canvas, adding further connotation and profundity to each collage. His vibrant art is built upon ingenious imagination and his studio reflects his media eclectic art and style: the studio is clean before a project but has paper-ridden floor afterward. A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Danny O served in the U.S. Navy after high school. He first served as a photographer's mate and later he became the Navy artist. After being discharged, he pursued his education at The Cooper Union School of Art in New York City. He now works and lives in his tree fort or log cabin studios situated in the Berkshires Hills. He has produced art in a variety of finishing options including framed Danny O art which are the most popular with many collectors. His inspiration comes from objects from everyday life and Pop culture. The artist is influenced by artists such as The Jam, Paul Klee, the Beatles, Warhol, Matisse, Scott Zieher, Milton Avery, Jeff Smith, the Fort Point artist of the late 1990s, Wayne Viens, and most influential, his artistic family background. Danny is the first person to make art with Scotch tape. He uses a transfer process to create graphics and delicate line illustrations.
