Petar Meseldžija (Born in 1965) was born in Novi Sad, Serbia. From the beginning of 2000 he has dedicated himself to gallery art, but he began his career in 1981. He published a comic series called "Krampi" in one of the best known comic magazines in the country, the Stripoteka. Meseldžija held his first one-man exhibition of paintings and illustrations in 1998 in Amsterdam at the Tjalf Sparnaay Gallery. Since then, he has participated in many other one man exhibitions and even in group exhibitions in the USA, the Netherlands and Yugoslavia. Of the exhibitions where he has participated, the most outstanding is the Exhibition of Independent Realists organized annually at the Mohlmann Museum in the Netherlands. This exhibition offers clear insight into the achievements of the creative contemporary Dutch artists in the sphere of figurative and realist art. Meseldžija graduated from the Painting Department of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. During his studies he worked more often on illustrations but also continued to work on comics. He also worked on the licensed comic book “Tarzan” and a series of other short comics. In 1991, Meseldžija decided to move to the Netherlands and he soon stopped working on comics and focused himself to painting and illustration. He has produced many pieces of art, many of them as framed Petar Meseldžija art. In the course of his work, he has painted hundreds of greeting cards and posters during, mostly for a company called Verkerke Reproduktie in Holland. He continues to do illustrations in addition to painting.
