Ann Mcleod was born in New York City at the beginning of Second World War in New York City. She was born to Dr. Gordon McNeer and Artemisa Evans, a wonderful mother and devoted wife. Her life was very rich and rewarding. Ann grew up in Manhasset, and attended Manhasset High School in Long Island. Many of her lasting friends come from this period in her life: Connie Collins, Pat Barrow, the Leslie family, the Allalemdjian family, Ann Fiero, Linda Wakem, Dwight Beach, and so many others. For 35 years Ann was a Professor of Psychology and Art History at Polk State College on the Lakeland and Winter Haven campuses. Ann was a portrait artist and studied under the tutelage of a highly-respected artist called Ruth Messana who was residing in Central Florida. Within the years that she worked at Polk State College, she traveled to Egypt, China, Spain and Russia. From Russia she returned to New York City with a collection of religious relics that she placed in the hands of her friend Land Daniel to deliver to St. John the Divine in New York City. These were to honor her father who was once a student there. Ann also worked tirelessly to promote the sculptures of Al Kriston, her long-time friend. She retired from Polk State College in 2005, and then embarked on a new career that was representative of her passion for the arts and her love for her family. She became a Board member of the Ridge Art Association. Framed Ann Mcleod art are found in many academic institutions. At Polk State College, Ann was a founding member of the Archeology Club.
