Laurie Maitland (Born 1969) is painter who started creating art mainly as a hobby. Born in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, she spent her early years in Cotswolds before she moved to London. Laurie registered great success in her schoolwork, performing excellently in arts and Maths. She studied at Kingston University from where she earned her English and Drama degree. She started selling her artwork after she did her first professional art exhibition in 1996 at Bournemouth outdoor art exhibition. The selling was done through Covent Garden Craft market among other galleries. Laurie’s growing artistic empire inspired her to go into serious art business that included running three own art galleries besides an art publishing business. At some point, however, she felt overwhelmed, deciding to sell her business interests to focus fully on creating art. Her works began to make inroads in different markets and were distributed across the globe. Their appearance in shows such as London Art Fair and Affordable Art Fair proved that their demand was very high. At the same time they became very popular in North America and were also registered by Canadian Art Prints as best seller. Laurie is currently based in Devon, UK, where she continues to paint and is also writing her 4th novel. She has a great sense of interior design that enables her to create pieces that resonate quite well with interiors. She's also gifted in selecting colors that reflect different seasons such as sandy tones, winter neutrals, and autumn leaves. Laurie now spends most of her time writing, limiting the number of original artwork pieces she releases. She now creates new collections only twice every year.
