Melissa Lyons grew up in a community of Chicago. If someone would have told her 10 years ago that she would be where she is today she would have laughed, and then cried. Melissa would have told him/her that it just wasn't possible or was far-fetched. But Mrs. Pulsifer, her art teacher at elementary school told her she was going to be an artist one day and somehow she believed... And now she knows those words were coming from God Himself because there is no way she would be where she is now without Him. Melissa never went to college, and never attended any art school...she just loves to paint. Her last art class was in school when she was a child and she never had it in her head ever that she would be an artist and she took the art classes casually. She had tried her hands in sketch books and oil pastels but that was it. So she believes it clearly wasn't her telling her to paint, but God. It was an encouraging, soft, sweet voice in her spirit that said, “Do it.” So in 2012, February, she went and bought some paint and cheap canvas and she painted a bird. Melissa didn't even know what to paint. However, it came very natural to her. It was invigorating and she felt excited and different. She felt like there was something hidden inside her that she had never known. Today, she’s among the best artists in Chicago and her art is distributed worldwide mainly as framed Melissa Lyons art.
