Georg Wolfgang Knorr (Born 1705) was born in Nuremberg. He published numerous engravings during his lifetime, some in books and some as single folios. worth mentioning is his work entitled “Deliciae naturae selectae" and its sequel which appeared in 1757. The content and title of these volumes are exceptionally popular with upcoming artists and they exemplify the contemporary beautification of zoology, more so in the area of colorful mussels. Wolfgang Knorr was trained by J. L. Blank in the technique of engraving and achieved his initial great success with his illustrations for Scheuzer's Jacob Johannes "Physica sacra" which he did in 1731. Early on he showed a good eye for detail and a talent for drawing. This was noticed by many people who went ahead to encourage him to consider art as a career. He also knew from his childhood that he would become a professional artist and he channeled his efforts towards achieving this goal. He became interested in the natural sciences through his own studies and through his early illustration work and he gained a strong foundation of knowledge in the natural sciences and art history. Though he did numerous short trips away from his hometown, the artist spent his whole life in Nuremberg. At any moment he could be seen painting anything that inspired him. He had no option but to follow what his art dictated. His art is today availed through many outlets, mainly in the form of framed Georg Wolfgang Knorr art. He completed his assignments within the stipulated time and budget. That’s why he got many referrals. His art has been to many shows and exhibitions and he won numerous awards.
