Becky Kinkead, also called Rebecca Kinkeed, is a painter who creates art on subjects that her audience can easily relate to. However, she infuses some level of vagueness, enabling her viewers to have their personal interpretation to her narratives. Most of her artwork pieces focus on portraying joy, tenderness and weaknesses of her subjects thus mirroring the society where she lives. In her art, she uses color, form, and composition and allows them to evolve for the best results. As an American artist, her creative works have been widely displayed in the U.S. since 1999 in places such as Studio E Gallery, West palm Beach, FL; Soft, Fresh Art Gallery, Denver, CO; Gallery MAR, Park City, UT; and Salon Show, Clark Gallery, Lincoln, MA. Becky has been awarded by several entities for her artistic works and was in 2004 awarded with the Ballinglen Arts Foundation Fellowship. She uses oil paints as her primary medium and works with canvas as her support base. This allows her to play around with colors and forms to derive her desired results, whether she’s painting children playing, a running dog, or youths in sports. Becky employs a clear cut process to create art. The process involves spreading the paint on canvas using palette knives before creating a full layer. She then scrapes the layer, drips some paint, and then does the layering process once again. Apart from her creative imaginations, some of her art pieces are derived from subjects that capture her attention during her travels. Becky currently works in her home studio in Vermont. She got her formal education from University of Vermont before she went to Minnesota State University.
