Welcome to Joe & Mary Ann McDonald offer the finest in small group nature and wildlife photography photo tours, safaris, and workshops, both foreign and domestic. They are both photographers as well as naturalists that provide clients with the information that explains what they are seeing, and that gives meaning both to the client’s photographs and to their experience. The couple is the most active and prolific husband-wife nature photography team in the U.S. today. They spent at least half of each year in the field, leading photo tours to various United States destinations, leading photo safaris to Africa and other remote destinations, and conducting digital photography classes and courses at their studio in Pennsylvania at Hoot Hollow, and at other US locations. They also conduct weekend and one-day seminars across the country. Since 1966 Joe has been photographing nature and wildlife, starting with images of snakes, lizards, and his pet turtles. By high school Joe was already selling photos to the National Wildlife Federation, and when he was still fresh in college, he was already publishing in that magazine. He has been published in every natural history publication in the U.S. since then; including Bird Watcher's Digest, Audubon, Defenders, Birder's World, Natural History, Living Bird, Ranger Rick, National and International Wildlife, Wildlife Conservation, Smithsonian, and more. He is represented by a number of stock photo agencies, both world-wide and domestically – among them Danita Delimont. He has authored 7 books and is a founding member the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA). Framed Joe & Mary Ann McDonald art are highly priced by many collectors.
