Jeanne Hughes (1932 - 2015) was born in Aline Oklahoma. Jeanne was a lifelong Methodist. She began as a member of and attended the Aline United Methodist Church while she lived in the area growing up. She did well in school and graduated from Aline High School in 1950, after which she majored in art at Oklahoma State University. At the age of 19, she got married to Owen Curtis Griffin in Aline, Oklahoma. Hughes and her husband made their homes in different places including Collinsville, Wyandotte, and Stillwater. They got separated after 28 years of marriage. Jeanne got married again this time to Edward Hamilton and together they owned and managed The Cue, a campus entertainment center in Stillwater, and The Rock Barn Relics, an antique store. Unfortunately, just like in the first marriage, the couple parted ways after 28 years of their marriage. Jeanne worked outside her home. She was a homemaker while her children were young. She worked in the OSU Bookstore as an administrative assistant in the Extension Design Center and Art Department. She loved to sew and had many patterns and projects stacked in her studio. Jeanne was a talented and gifted artist, painting landscapes and portraits, and occasionally teaching the art of the brush to others. She enjoyed visiting her extended family in Washington State. Many of her landscapes feature the streams, forests, and the snow-capped mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Framed Jeanne Hughes art adorn the walls of many prestigious galleries, homes and institutions around the world. Jeanne died in 2015 and is survived by her three children Steven Griffin, Stanley Griffin, and Jana Ree.
