Maggie Heinzel-Neel is both a professional photographer and a yoga teacher. She loves what she does, and says that photojournalism is her passion. Maggie shoots weddings as a quiet observer and the calm, clear director of portraits. Maggie believes that creativity is in everyone, all that is required is to awaken it. She also believes that creativity is a means through which people, especially artists, can express themselves and respond to the world they live in. Being creative, she says, fosters emotional wellbeing and connects people to the world around them – helping them to value communities, people, places, and to highlight issues people face. Maggie avoids too many stiff poses by creating a moment and shooting as the observer. This allows her pictures to capture the candidness of what’s happening. Her work is celebratory and often responds to the beauty of weddings. She says it is an honor to her to know that the pictures she takes will be in the family for generations, so she strives to shoot each wedding as a sacred act – because that’s what it actually is. She has won many awards including first and second prize in professional photojournalism, PX3 International photography competition, Bay Area Peninsula journalism Award, and first place photojournalism for the san Francisco Business times, just to mention a few. She produces her art in a variety of finishing options – the most popular being the ready to hang framed Maggie Heinzel-Neel art, which are currently highly priced by many collectors. Some of her published weddings include Manhattan Bride Spring 2007, Hudson Valley Magazine 2007, The Knot/ New York Metro Magazine spring 2008, and Manhattan Bride Spring 2008. She studied at Stuart Country Day School, Princeton High School, Princeton, NJ and at Drexel University. She currently lives in New Paltz (village), New York.
