Framed Feininger Prints

Andreas Feininger (Born 1906) was born in Paris. He studied architecture and cabinetmaking and established firm specializing in industrial and architectural photography. In his art he combined an artist's love of sweeping vistas with an architect's love of space, precision, and technique. Feininger immigrated to New York City and was employed by Life magazine as a photographer. He was attracted to New York City since his earliest days as a photographer. And as time went by, several aspects of the city became dear to his heart, including its confusion, its cars and traffic jams, its people, its buildings, and even its ugliness. He came to see the city as a living organism: sometimes violent, dynamic, and even brutal. Feininger was also an admired and prolific writer. He published several picture books and textbooks on photography that are now translated into several languages. His photographs are in many important collections including: The International Center of Photography, New York City, The New York Historical Society, the Museum of the City of New York, The Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, Germany, Victorian and Albert Museum of Art, London, The Museum of Modern Art, New York City, among others. Framed Andreas Feininger art has found its way into many prestigious galleries, museums and homes all over the world. While working for LIFE magazine, he successfully completed more than 430 assignments in a span of 20 years that he worked with the firm. A full body of his modern prints has been represented by GALLERY M since 1996.
