Robert Deyber (Born August 1955) was born in Greenwich, Connecticut. His mother was a fashion model and talented portrait artist, while his father was a real estate broker. He began drawing and painting in his teens, and continued to develop a style that was surreal and original. Deyber is mostly known for literal visual portrayals of idioms, euphemisms and cliches from the English and other languages. His style has appeal for experienced as well as new collectors. He draws inspiration from the cultures that surrounded him as he lived in various parts of the country from New York City to San Francisco. His works relate to those of Frederic Church and Thomas Cole of the Hudson River School, naive painter Henri Rousseau, surrealists like René Magritte and Salvador Dalí, the colorists Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse, and Andy Warhol. His early work from the 1980s and 1990s involves work that he describes as surreal American mythology or neo-surrealism. While he continued to show and develop his work, he was an executive in the airline industry. He left the airline industry in 2001 then moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be closer to his siblings. Deyber then began to focus all this time on his artistic career and began exhibiting his work. With much success his work, especially framed Robert Deyber, began to grow in popularity and he soon was represented in many surrounding and distant states. By 2004, Deyber had collectors in 27 countries and was selling works around the globe.
